About Us

Why We Started The Black Nonprofit Group

The Escambia & Santa Rosa Black Nonprofit Group was born out of a simple truth: Black-led and grassroots nonprofits are doing powerful work—but too often, they do it alone and under-resourced.

Across our community, we saw dedicated leaders serving youth, families, and neighborhoods with passion—but without access to the same networks, funding, or visibility as larger organizations. Many were reinventing the wheel, facing barriers to grants, compliance, and sustainability not because of lack of skill—but lack of access.

We knew something had to change.

So we created The Black Nonprofit Group—a space where Black-led and ally nonprofits could come together to learn, grow, and rise collectively.

Our purpose is to:

Educate organizations on how to build structure, capacity, and sustainability.

Empower leaders with knowledge, tools, and partnerships.

Equip nonprofits to not only survive—but thrive and lead change across Northwest Florida.

We started this movement to make sure no organization stands alone and every Black-led and ally nonprofit has what they need to build legacy, influence policy, and transform lives.

This isn’t just about nonprofits—it’s about community power, shared success, and creating a network where we all rise together.

Reviews

"I am so grateful for Escambia and Santa Rosa Black Nonprofit! As a new nonprofit founder, the process of starting up and handling paperwork felt overwhelming, but their support made it smooth and manageable. They were knowledgeable, patient, and walked me through each step with professionalism and care. Not only did they help me get my nonprofit up and running, but they also encouraged me throughout the journey. I truly appreciate the work they are doing to empower and support other Black-led organizations like mine. Highly recommend their services!."
